Pico Creek
Located at the north end of San Simeon at Pico Avenue, Pico Creek beach is within walking distance from all San Simeon lodging properties and restaurants. Pico Creek is a popular surf spot for shortboarders, longboarders and kite surfers. The reef here is located at the mouth of the creek, making for some interesting breaks.
Arroyo Laguna Beach
Arroyo Laguna Beach is a windsurfing and kiteboarding spot along the northern San Luis Obispo Coast. The beach’s famous afternoon breeze, which can get up to 40 mph, brings out dozens of colorful kites and riders flying high across the ocean’s surface.
The beach is at the mouth of Oak Knoll Creek which is commonly called Arroyo Laguna. This is another one of the many beaches that are part of Hearst San Simeon State Park. There is a parking lot for Arroyo Laguna Beach along Highway 1 about two miles north of the entrance to Hearst Castle.
Leffingwell Point
Located north of Leffingwell Point, this beach is the south part of Hearst San Simeon State Beach. It can be accessed by a trail that starts at the north end of Leffingwell Landing, and can even be accessed from south of Leffingwell Point at low tide. Surfers enjoy the gentle point break, and the isolated feel of the great flat beach.
