Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, San Simeon can be found on either side of one of the most scenic stretches of California Highway 1. Wind your way along the captivating California coastline on this National Scenic Byway, and enjoy every moment of your trip—from start to finish.

From Los Angeles

Take U.S. Highway 101 north to San Luis Obispo, then California Highway 1 north about 39 miles. Total travel time is approximately 4.5 hours.

From San Francisco

Take U.S. Highway 101 south to California Highway 46, and then west on 46 to California Highway 1 north for about 13 miles. Total travel time is approximately 5 hours.

From San Luis Obispo

Take California Highway 1 north about 39 miles. Total travel time is approximately 55 minutes.

From Monterey

Please note that the normal route on Highway is currently closed. Use the alternate directions from Google Maps. Take California Highway 1 South (about 93 miles) to San Simeon. Please allow extra time for Highway 1, which is windy and narrow. Or take Highway 68 East to Highway 101 South then Highway 46 West to California Highway 1 North to the San Simeon, about 130 miles total.
