Sebastian’s General Store has been a beloved landmark of the Central Coast for over 150 years. From its humble beginnings in 1852 as a provider of goods and services to whalers, fishermen, miners, and neighboring ranches, Sebastian’s has always carried on through the generations, standing as a testament to the enduring spirit of the coast. Over the years, Sebastian’s has witnessed the ebb and flow of history, but has remained a constant presence in the community despite the changing times. Old San Simeon Village flourished around the store with hotels, saloons, schools, and other establishments, but as time went on, most of the village faded away. Yet, Sebastian’s endured and has continued to be a cherished staple in the region. In recent years, Sebastian’s General Store underwent extensive renovations and a retrofit to provide a fresh and modern update to this historical building. After four years of dedication and meticulous restoration, Sebastian’s has reopened their doors, welcoming visitors once again.
